OpenVault’s Usage Meter Proven Highly Accurate in Benchmark Study

Independent Testing by NetForecast Assures Accuracy and Reliability in High Speed Data Usage Measurement

Wayne, N.J., September 6, 2012 – OpenVault, the leading provider of service-based real-time usage, data, and analytics solutions for Multiple System Operators (MSOs), announced today that the accuracy of its broadband usage meter has been independently verified by NetForecast, an internationally recognized engineering consulting company that is the independent auditor of ISP data usage meters.

“When it comes to analyzing and measuring high speed usage data, accuracy is critical,” stated Rich Evans, Vice President Sales & Marketing of OpenVault.  “Many broadband providers rely on this information to bill their subscribers, and if the data isn’t reliable, this can lead to inaccurate bills- and very unhappy customers. OpenVault’s usage meter has been proven accurate and reliable, which means our clients can count on us to provide the critical data they need to run their business, along with a concise picture of data usage for subscribers.”

OpenVault’s internet protocol detail record (IPDR) usage meter is provided as a software as a service (SaaS) to cable operators around the world. As part of the comprehensive benchmark study, the OpenVault solution was tested for accuracy, and the timeliness with which OpenVault’s solution presents meter records to the next stage of the ISP’s meter system.

“Based on our test results, MSO’s should be able to rely on the accuracy of OpenVault’s Usage Meter as a critical element of a production meter system.  In NetForecast’s independent production environment audit, OpenVault’s system was accurate within plus or minus 0.3%, exceeding OpenVault’s stated goal of plus or minus 1% accuracy” said Peter Sevcik, President of NetForecast.

OpenVault’s Usage Meter collects IPDRs from the operator, then aggregates and translates these into usable meter records, providing valuable insight into how much data is consumed and generated, and allowing operators to bill subscribers based on monthly usage.
