Job Summary: 

We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on expertise in database engineering, especially in managing and optimizing Cassandra, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Druid databases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database architecture, design, and performance tuning, and will work closely with our engineering and data teams to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, and manage database schemas, indexes, and tuning configurations to ensure high performance and availability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database interactions, queries, and stored procedures.
  • Lead efforts in troubleshooting and resolving database issues, including performance, blocking, and deadlocking issues.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database architecture, data modeling, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Monitor and analyze database performance metrics, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Establish and implement database policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Lead initiatives for database optimization, scaling, and sharding.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior database engineers and administrators.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.
  • Expertise in Cassandra, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Druid databases.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database principles, theories, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
  • Proficient in database migration, backup, and restore procedures.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems (Linux, UNIX, Windows). Strong background in Linux required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.

Certifications:  

  • Certifications like Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar are preferred.

Work Environment:  

  • This position is based in the United States on the East Coast.
  • Standard 40-hour work week with occasional weekend and evening work as needed.
